Tour The Area

The Lake Huron and Georgian Bay areas are well known and loved for their exquisite natural beauty. From the sandy beaches at Sauble Beach and the towering cliffs at Cape Croker, to the rolling hills that slope off to Georgian Bay, the rocky, clear blue waters of Stokes Bay and Tobermory… the area is truly outstanding.

Discover Nature & Outdoors

The Bruce Trail runs through much of the area from Meaford area, along the Niagara Escarpment, as it continues its way north, winding its way up the western edge of Georgian Bay to Tobermory, and then on to Cape Croker, Dyer’s Bay, and eventually Tobermory. This trail is one of the best ways to get exercise while being immersed in nature as you enjoy the beauty of this incredible area.

With many other trails for hiking, biking, running, and snowmobiling… or even for a slow sunday afternoon stroll, there are so many ways to enjoy the outdoors here. It’s why so many people choose to come visit each year at a waterfront cottage, and of course those who love it so much choose to buy a waterfront property on Lake Huron or on Georgian Bay.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS & AMENITIES

The Lake Huron / Georgian Bay area is home to some amazing events, attractions and amenities for enjoyment all year round which is one of the many reasons to buy a waterfront home on Lake Huron or Georigian Bay.

Sauble Beach

Sauble Beach is arguably one of the best-known attractions of the area. Up to 150,000 people descend on the town and beach on some weekends in the summer, and there’s good reason for that. Sauble is an incredible place to lay on the beach, go swimming, play in the water, or cool off on a hot summer day. Enjoy a relaxing stroll on the beach and take in the sunset while listening to the waves hit the shore.

Sauble Beach has over 7km of beach and sand dunes and is one of the longest fresh-water sand beaches in the world. It’s been called one of the “Top 10 Beaches in the World”. There are many shops and stores in the town and several great places to eat. Many cottages are available to be booked for the summer months as well as several campgrounds such as Carsons Camp, Woodland Park, and Winding River Campground.

Also in Sauble Beach is the Ascent Aerial Park which is a very popular attraction, including climbing walls, high ropes, and their new zip coaster.

One thing is for sure: real estate and waterfront homes for sale in Sauble Beach are a hot commodity!

Owen Sound

In Owen Sound each year at the end of summer and beginning of fall, there are several events on back to back weekend that draw people from all over.

The Summerfolk music festival, which started in 1975 at Kelso Beach Park in Owen Sound is extremely popular and draws crowds each year from every Canadian province and 30 US states.

The Salmon Spectacular, Owen Sound RibFest, and the annual Fall Fair are Owen Sound events that draw crowds of locals and visitors from all across the province and country.
All very easily accessible and within a short driving distance from a waterfront home or cottage on Lake Huron or Georigian Bay.

A public library, new Rec Centre and the Bayshore Community Centre which is home to an OHL hockey team, the Owen Sound Attack, are just a few of the great reasons why Owen Sound is a great place to buy a waterfront property on Georgian Bay.

Kincardine

The Kincardine Scottish Festival is simply amazing. This award-winning Scottish festival is noted for its Pipe Band parade, as well as the Highland Games and Highland Dance competitions that take place during the Festival each summer.

For over 20 years, people from all over North American have descended on the little waterfront town of Kincardine on the shores of Lake Huron in order see and take part in all things Scottish.

Kincardine is wonderful small town on the edge of Lake Huron with many great restaurants and shops, and has great access to the water via public beaches and a marina. The old downtown area has many old buildings from a by-gone architectural era which are perfect for a quiet stroll or dinner and evening out. All this, combined with beautiful summer weather and picture perfect sunsets make Kincardine a perfect place to buy a waterfront home on the shores of Lake Huron.

Southampton & Port Elgin

The Southampton Market is truly an experience you won’t want to miss. A massive indoor market with over 2 acres of covered space spread across two floors; home to one of the largest selections of Mennonite furniture in Ontario.

Centrally located in beautiful Southampton, the Market has plenty of free parking and is wheelchair accessible. Historic rustic wooden floors create such a beautiful atmosphere and the feel of an old general store, but with the convenience of a larger factory outlet.

Port Elgin, only a few minutes from Southampton is home to even more great beaches on the shores of Lake Huron. Port Elgin is known quite well for its annual Pumpkinfest, drawing crowds of nearly 60,000 people each year for the two-day event.

Both Port Elgin and Southampton are great spots to look for a waterfront home or cottage for sale – a place that you can truly make yours and enjoy for years to come.

Blue Mountain

With Blue Mountain easily within driving distance, Lake Huron waterfront properties are attractive year-round. Beautiful cottage and waterfront lifestyle in the summer, and skiing or snowboarding in the winter… not to mention snowmobiling. If you love hitting the slopes in the winter, then Blue Mountain is the place to be.

On the slopes you’ll encounter beautiful views overlooking Collingwood and Georgian Bay. The Blue Mountain Village has shops, restaurants with delicious foods, and a wonderful alpine village atmosphere
